5 Reasons you SHOULD visit Alicante Spain in Winter ❄

Hi Friends πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

Welcome to my youtube channel my name is Ash and I am speaking to you from Alicante as you can see i am by the beach at the moment and so sorry if you hear any background noise. I wanted to create this video to help people who are thinking about traveling to Europe, Alicante especially.

It is winter time at the moment so we came here on 26th of December just after Christmas and it's 9th of January now, but i've loved it so much that i've extended my stay till 16th of jan so here are five reasons why i think this would be a good destination to travel to during winter.

  1. Weather β˜€οΈ

So the weather has been my first top reason for why I chose to come to Alicante as it is likely to be for anyone from uk um winter in uk versus winter in Spain is completely different.

So when i left UK the temperature was around two to four degrees versus 20 degrees here in Alicante, so it's much warmer the sunshine here in Alicante definitely has lifted my spirits i've been able to wear my summer clothes during the day. At night it does get a bit chilly so i would recommend to pack a warm jumper or a lightweight jacket for those who are planning to travel also having traveled to Spain in peak summer before so i went to Tenerife two three years ago and the temperatures were between 30-35 degrees which is much hotter compared to winter months it's lovely for those who want to catch a tan and generally want to be by the beach but it's not too great for those who want to explore the city and want to do hikes and physical activities so being here in winter with around 20 degrees gave me a pleasant mother to do these things.

2. Offpeak πŸ‘ŒπŸ½

Second on the list is off peak season so as winter is off peak season for travel to Spain i managed to grab some great deals on flights and hotels which is great because that allowed me to use the savings to extend the trip another benefit has been that there have been literally no crowds or queues at most hot spots this allowed extra time to enjoy the place rather than wasting time in waiting in queues also got quick service at most restaurants which is why off-peak season is second on my list

3. Christmas πŸŽ„πŸ€Ά

Third on the list is Christmas decorations and celebrations, I got here around Christmas so have been lucky to enjoy Alicante's lovely Christmas decorations every street that branches out from the center of Alicante is decorated with beautiful fairy lights and led banner you can tell people really love Christmas here as most shops and restrooms were also decorated with festive decor.

I was lucky enough to attend local Christmas parade which gave me an opportunity to experience local culture and see some beautiful performances

4. Food & Shopping πŸ₯˜πŸ›οΈ

Fourth on the list is food and shopping, so we found some great restaurants and cafes for Spanish food in the center i managed to try some veggie pile which i've been wanting to do for a long time fell in love with cuesto empanadas and freshly made churros with hot chocolate food in general is very reasonable in price i spent on average around 15 euros which included main meal dessert and a drink so generally very affordable even in the nicer restaurants and bars shopping wise there is a mall about 10 minutes walk from the center and a long strip of spanish brands such as Zara, Massimo Dutti etcb. The prices were roughly 35 cheaper in comparison to uk so i decided to buy a few things even though i don't have any space left in my suitcase.

5. Things to do πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ

So lastly things to do there are plenty of things to do here in alicante if you are here to catch a tan there are many beautiful beaches playa del prestige is really close to the center is pretty but also very popular with the locals if you are looking to go somewhere quiet i really like beach san juan player which is very scenic with its white sands and long stretch of walk and it's about 20 minutes drive from the center so not too far and totally worth the travel for those wanting to explore the city there are plenty of museums and historical streets such as passage espanada this is a long promenade covered with palm trees and mosaic floor and is very close to the seaside I also managed to climb up the hill to see castillo de santa barbara which is a castle built centuries ago and has a long history at one point it was also used as a prison really enjoyed the views from the top loved it so much that i went back on the new eve to get the same views at midnight it was cold but totally worth it

Conclusion

So those were the five reasons i hope you liked the video and i found it useful, if you did please like and subscribe i will be posting more videos from Alicante in the coming days i have recorded a lot of things i want to share with you guys so yeah hope to see you on the next one
